In Saints, director Mikel Gurrea turns a closed church into a treasure chest for a compelling story of art, family, and collective care. Set in the director’s neighbourhood of Sants in Barcelona, the Official Selection film follows Lali (Victoria Luengo), returning home as her mother (Ariadna Gil) faces her final days, then joining a gang led by Rosario (Eulàlia Ramon), whose calculated robberies feel like sacred rituals. Blending darkness and mystery, Gurrea explores the strange bond between devotion and theft while Lali discovers a unique form of care. As Luengo notes, it is a journey about learning to stay, as loving means staying. Saints blends the sacred and profane in a neighbourhood where nothing is as it seems.
