Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie will visit the San Sebastian Film Festival for the first time with Louis Garrel and Garance Marillier to participate on 21 September in the presentation of Couture, the film by Alice Winocour included in the Official Competition Selection. Thus, they will join Winocour and the two actresses of the film whose presence had already been announced: Anyier Anei and Ella Rumpf.
Set during the frenzy of Paris Fashion Week, three women’s lives intersect in Paris: Maxine (Angelina Jolie), an American filmmaker discovers she has breast cancer and is drawn into an unexpected connection with a familiar collaborator (Louis Garrel); Ada (Anyier Anei), a fresh face in modeling, is escaping a predetermined future back home in South Sudan; and Angèle (Ella Rumpf), a makeup artist works in the shadows of the catwalks. As their paths cross, the film reveals the quiet resilience beneath the surface of public performance and honors the unspoken solidarity shared among these women across professions, cultures and continents.
Therefore, Angelina Jolie, Louis Garrel and Garance Marillier are the latest names to join the long list of already confirmed presences, such as Jennifer Lawrence or Colin Farrell, at the 73rd edition of the San Sebastian Festival, which will be held from September 19 to 27.
