Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The opening conversation of the Film Talks section aims to establish a discussion between Francine Maisler, one of the most important casting directors in the sector with a career encompassing more than seventy feature films, and María Laura Berch, casting director and acting coach who has participated in more than two hundred Argentinian film projects since 2002. With this dialogue, the Festival aims to turn the spotlight on the profession and create a space in which to discuss the ins and outs of directing actors and the challenges faced by professionals when it comes to composing the cast for a film. The dialogue will focus on Maisler's career, with Berch's approach, experience and knowledge of the craft.

Francine Maisler is one of the most highly respected casting directors in the industry, having cast over seventy features and numerous television projects. In 2022, she won a Primetime Emmy Award for her work on HBO’s Succession, and most recently received her fifth Primetime Emmy nomination for True Detective.
Honoured by the 2024 Karlovy Vary Film Festival, her work has also been recognized by The Casting Society of America’s Artios Awards with 15 accolades (including Marriage Story in 2020 and Don't Look Up in 2021) and over 50 nominations. In 2023, Francine served on the International Jury at the Berlinale Film Festival - the first casting director to do so. She has also received two Robert Altman Awards from the Independent Spirit Awards.
Her notable projects include The Revenant and Birdman (Alejandro González Iñárritu), The Big Short and Vice (Adam McKay), Creed (Ryan Coogler), Milk (Gus Van Sant), As Good as It Gets (James L. Brooks), The Tree of Life (Terrence Malick), 12 Years a Slave (Steve McQueen), Captain Phillips (Paul Greengrass), Mud (Jeff Nichols), Ex Machina (Alex Garland), Little Women (Greta Gerwig), Sicario, Arrival, Bladerunner 2049, and Dune (Denis Villeneuve). In 2024, her projects include Dune: Part Two (Denis Villeneuve), The Bikeriders (Jeff Nichols), Challengers (Luca Guadagnino), Civil War (Alex Garland), Joker: Folie à deux (Todd Phillips), Mickey 17 (Bong Joon-Ho) and Mufasa (Barry Jenkins). Francine has also just finished casting the untitled Ryan Coogler feature, Klara and the Sun (Taika Waititi) and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey (Kogonada).
