Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The opening gala of the 72nd San Sebastian Festival will be directed and presented tonight by the Catalan comedians, Andreu Buenafuente and Berto Romero, who will be accompanied at the Kursaal by the actress Bárbara Goenaga in a ceremony that kicks off at 9 PM.
During the opening gala, which will precede the world premiere of Emmanuelle, by Audrey Diwan, Javier Bardem will receive the Donostia Award he was unable to pick up last year due to the actors’ strike, while the FIPRESCI Grand Prix will go to Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things and the members of the Official Jury will be introduced.
Buenafuente: “I have nothing but good memories of San Sebastian. And that’s saying something. So, when they invited me to participate in the opening gala I thought that I had so much to be grateful for that I’d better go there and tell them personally. And with my pal Berto to boot”.
