Proyecta, an initiative jointly organized by Ventana Sur, Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes and San Sebastian Film Festival, will host the presentation of fifteen projects from film directors looking to secure additional funding and new partners for their first or second feature films, The program will present the projects and bring together industry professionals, including producers, international sales agents, and festival programming heads, in pursuit of fostering co-production between Europe and Latin America.
The sixth edition of Proyecta will take place both in-person and online as part of Ventana Sur’s 15th market edition and will kick off in Buenos Aires with a riveting pitching session by the projects’ producers on 29 November and in-person one-to-one meetings on 30 November.
This year’s selection is a testament to the diversity and creativity of emerging filmmakers from across the globe. The chosen projects are made up of eleven Latin American projects hailing from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico, and Peru, complemented by four compelling European projects with strong ties to Latin America. Among these, two projects boast German and Norwegian production affiliations, while two are Spanish productions, one of which includes Spanish-Chilian co-production Tres Noches Negras (Three Black Nights), previously featured at the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum during the San Sebastian Festival.
Proyecta stands as an integral part of Ventana Sur, the leading Latin American film market organized jointly by the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales de Argentina (INCAA) and the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes. The 2023 edition, co-funded by Creative Europe MEDIA, is slated to run from 27 November to 1 December.
As a result of new partnership agreements, selected project representatives will, for the first time, have an exceptional opportunity to vie for two coveted invitation awards. Firstly, they can secure an invitation to the Sørfond Pitching Forum of the following year, offering them the chance to pitch their selected (Sørfond-eligible) project to potential Norwegian co-producers and gain direct access to apply for support from Sørfond (if the project includes a Norwegian co-producer). Secondly, project representatives can look forward to participating in the one of the inspirational labs of next year’s WEMW (When East Meets West) Co-Production Market, a renowned annual market in Trieste, Italy whose labs are uniquely designed to spotlight projects and professionals from Latin America and Ibermedia countries.
Proyecta’s 2023 lineup includes the following 15 projects:
