Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
This year the gastronomic selection of the Festival, Culinary Cinema, has been visited by international star Juliette Binoche who is here to present La Passion de Dodin Bouffant.
The French actress said that she was delighted to be in San Sebastián because its festival is quiet, welcoming and less hysterical than others. She also stressed that the press here is really enthusiastic and supports the film that they like, the most interesting one, which are auteur films.
La passion de Dodin Bouffant is set in the 19th century and portrays a love story between an extraordinary chef played by Binoche and a food critic called Dodin, played by Benoît Magimel. “We hadn’t worked together for twenty years and making this film was a way of reconnecting,” the actress points out. According to Binoche bringing the project to completion wasn’t easy. Although the cast and crew were really excited about the film, the budget that they had wasn’t enough. Fortunately, the producer, Olivier Delbosc, joined the project and helped to turn things around.
