Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Lila Avilés (Mexico City) is a film director, screenwriter and producer who received widespread recognition for her first feature, La camarista (The Chambermaid, 2018), the film selected to represent Mexico at the Oscars and the Goyas in 2020. It participated in the New Directors section of the San Sebastian Festival, screened at more than eighty festivals around the world and has enjoyed great critical acclaim. Among other national and international awards, the movie received the Ariel Award for Best Debut Film from the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Jury Prize at the World Cinema Festival in Amsterdam, the Platino Award for Best First Film and the Special Jury Coral at Havana Film Festival. Tótem, her second feature film, competed at the last Berlin Festival, where it landed the Ecumenical Jury Award, and participated in Horizontes Latinos at the San Sebastian Festival.
In 2018 she founded the production company Limerencia Films. She has served on the jury of the Morelia International Festival (Mexico, 2019), Nespresso Talents (2019), the FICUNAM (Mexico, 2020), Lima International Festival (Peru, 2020), the Antofacine Festival (Chile, 2020) and the Horizontes Award in San Sebastian (2021).
