Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Mikele Landa Eiguren (Bilbao) is a graduate in Audiovisual Communication from the University of the Basque Country and the Faculty of Film Studies at the Karlstad University in Sweden. She specialised in Creative Documentary and Experimental Cinema at the TAI in Madrid. Her graduation film, Heldu, showed at Zinebi (2018) and received the Best Director Award at the Euskal Zine Bilera (2019). Since then, she has developed audiovisual projects in collaboration with several associations, such as the film she directed in collaboration with OSALDE, Mali, 10 urtetan (2019).
In 2022 she completed her post-graduate course in Filmmaking at the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola and participated with her graduation piece, Noizko basoa, in Nest, San Sebastian Festival’s international competition for short films by film students, in Zinebi, and in the Punto de Vista Festival.
Dance and literature also feature strongly in her creative process. One example of this are her artistic proposals as member of the literary band ITU and the video-dance pieces and shows produced in collaboration with numerous choreographers. She has also developed, with the poet Itziar Ugarte Irizar, the show Gu gabe ere. Biharamunean, which has run on several stages throughout the Basque Country.
She is currently working on her first feature film, Senda, which has been selected for the Noka Mentoring 2023 and Creando Juntas programmes. In addition, as a journalist she has worked and collaborated with a variety of media, such as the EiTB news programmes (2017-2021), the Berria newspaper (2018- 2019), and the San Sebastian Festival daily (2022).
