When Isabel Coixet read an article about sexual abuse in the Catalan newspaper, “Ara” in May 2020, she knew she had to do something. She spoke to the journalists who wrote it as well as the women who had filed a complaint against two of their teachers at the Theatre School in Lleida, and was absolutely certain that what they said was true. The six women who accompanied Coixet at the premiere of this special screening in the Official Selection were all students at the Theatre School who were abused by the teacher, Antonio Gómez, when they were teenagers, but their complaint had arrived when the statute of limitations had expired and the case had been closed. Thanks to the protests organized by the Dones A Escena association, Gómez was finally sacked from the Theatre School but received nearly 60,000 Euros in compensation, which was a real slap in the face for his victims. “You have to let everyone have their say and it would have been interesting if Gómez had agreed to talk part, but there was no way…”, Coixet explained at the press conference she gave after the screening of her film.
