Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The French director, novelist and scriptwriter Audrey Diwan is currently at the Festival to form part of the Official Section jury and is really aware of just how important her work as a juror is for the films competing at the Festival, having won the Golden Lion at Venice this year with her latest film L’événement.
She says that it has done her a lot of good to come to San Sebastián as it has allowed her to come back down to earth after her success in Venice. She explains that she went there without any kind of expectations because she knew that the competition was really tough, so when she received the award, it was a total surprise and a great joy. She also wanted to stress how brave and honest the Jury at Venice had been to recognise a film about such a risky subject as an illegal abortion in 1960s France.
