Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Spanish producer María Zamora is currently in San Sebastián as president of the Horizontes Latinos Jury. “I’m really relaxed, I just came here to enjoy things. It’s a treat just to be here”, she says. Asked what leads her to take an interest in a project and get the feeling that there might be a good story or a better film in it, she reveals that she didn’t study cinema but economics. “I work on the basis of my intuition to find stories that thrill me. Over time, I’ve gradually established a connection with filmmakers, where we understand each other really well, because this is a joint activity and we must see the film from a single perspective. This is essential for getting involved in a project.” Her productions include Estiu 1993, by Carla Simón, which won awards at Berlin and Málaga, as well as several Goyas, and Libertad, by Clara Roquet, which took part in the Critics’ Week at Cannes.
