An unpleasant incident occurred on the 23rd on Wednesday night, in theatre 9 at the Principe cinema at the screening of Atarrabi et Mikelats in the Zinemira section.
The director of the film, Eugène Green, was asked on no less than five occasions by Festival staff to put on a mask and to wear it properly. Finally, as he refused to do so, the Festival management asked him to leave the cinema. Two Basque police officers informed him that they would be filing an administrative complaint which could lead to him receiving a fine.
The Festival has withdrawn Eugène Green’s pass and he has lost his status as a Festival guest, for failing to respect the measures adopted in accordance with the health authorities and the Festival staff, and for putting the health of the audience and film team at risk during and after the screening.
