Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Juan Antonio Vigar (Málaga, Spain. 1958) has been the director of the Málaga Festival and of the Málaga Film Office since 2013. Since August 2015 he has been the managing director of Málaga’s Cervantes and Echegaray theatres. He is an associate member of the Spanish Academy of Cinematic Arts and Sciences and sits on the Platino Ibero-American film awards jury.
As a cultural manager, he has been the general coordinator of the Culture and Education Department of Malaga Provincial Council in the period 2008-2011 and director of the culture lecture room at Málaga’s Diario Sur. He has been a member of the Association of Cultural Managers of Andalusia (GECA) since 2009. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Opera XXI Association, of which he is also the treasurer, and member of the advisory board of the Málaga Athenaeum.
He is the author of various publications on audiovisual research, and of around a hundred journalistic articles with cinematic content as well as having worked for numerous media as a director of programmes and film critic. He is a professor on the Master’s in Cultural Criticism and Communication at the University of Alcalá-El Cultural, as well as a speaker on audiovisual subjects in numerous training programmes.
