The actresses Emma Suárez, Mireia Gabilondo and Cayetana Guillén Cuervo will be hosting the Opening Gala tonight at 9 o’clock in the Kursaal Once again the ceremony will be directed by the actor, director and scriptwriter Patxi Barco who explained that it will revolve around the three screens that will interact with what is happening on stage. “The hosts will dispense with the lectern so that they can move around freely. They won’t be describing the contents of the festival as the visual items that are going to be screened will do this for them.”
Various guests will be coming out on stage including the filmmaker Bertrand Tavernier and the son of Jacques Becker, who the Festival is dedicating a retrospective to this year. After the presentation of the Official Jury by its chairman, Bille August, the ceremony will be rounded off by the team from the opening film La Fille de Brest headed by its director Emmanuelle Bercot and its star, the Danish actress, Sidse Babett Knudsen.
