Cesc Gay made people laugh and cry with his latest film Truman, a tragicomedy about death, friendship and personal freedom starring Ricardo Darín and Javier Cámara, which was screened in the Official Section yesterday.
The director explained during the press conference he gave how, “a few years ago I went through the experience of losing a loved one and I started writing almost as a kind of therapy. I was fascinated to see how people reacted to death, and at the same time I found a lot of humour in certain situations. Then I kept it in a drawer, I shot Una pistola en cada mano and when I finished that, I went back to this story again.”
The intensity of the story left its mark on the actors although the shooting process was enjoyable. Darín confessed that it is always difficult to detach yourself from a character and it this case it was even more so.
