Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Danish film Silent Heart by Bille August was screened yesterday in the Official Section, earning favourable comparisons with the director’s early work, when he was considered to be the natural heir to Ingmar Bergman and twice won the Golden Palm at Cannes. August said he didn’t like to look back: “I don’t know to what extent Silent heart is imbued with the spirit of my early work; I hope it isn’t given the fact that I always like to look forward, and never look back. I made this film simply because it deals with a subject, Euthanasia, that is right at the heart of the social debate in Denmark and especially interests me, but especially because the script showed really well how a decision like this affects family bonds”.
