In 1813, in the last throes of the Napoleonic Wars in Spain, the Duke of Wellington’s troops took San Sebastian; the city was finally burned and razed to the ground, only leaving a few houses standing in what is now the Calle 31 de Agosto. Days later, at a meeting in Zubieta, a group of eminent locals decided to rebuild the city from its ashes, putting a plan on the table that displayed an enterprising spirit still in place today: «Let us imitate the magnanimity of our forebears and not buckle to downheartedness because of the dreadful calamity of the present...». How have we changed since then? How did we live in 1813 and how have we continued to live until our days? A positive, pleasant, integrating point of view, packed with anecdotes and curiosities in the shape of a full-length documentary that will help us to understand the way we were, the way we are and the way we will be thanks to the spirit of an open, modern and innovating city still persisting today.
