Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
A self-taught filmmaker from the city of Guanajuato (Mexico), Amat started working in cinema at the age of 15. Having made two short films, he wrote and directed his first feature, Sangre, shot in his home town and premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Festival de Cannes in 2005, where he received the FIPRESCI International Critics’ Prize. Los bastardos,his second feature, was also released in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2008.
Heli, his third full-length film, was internationally released as a competitor in the Official Selection at the Festival de Cannes in 2013, where he won the Best Director Award; the film will participate in the Horizontes Latinos section of the 61st San Sebastian Festival.
