Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Delighted to be at San Sebastián as chairman of the Horizontes Latinos jury, the Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler thinks he is in an exceptional position to see things from both sides not just in a geographical but also in a cultural sense. “I’m on both sides: I come and go from music to cinema; from Latin America to Spain; from performing to writing songs for films, and from the world of culture to the world of cinema.”
He thinks that at a time when everything is falling apart on this side of the Atlantic while over on the other side everything seems to be thriving is when a section like Horizontes Latinos becomes even more important, and he praises his fellow jurors, Fernanda del Nido and Sandro Fiorin, for their depth of knowledge and love for Latin American cinema. “I’d like all three of us to present the award, because that’s how the decisions are being taken.”
