Foxfire tells the story of five teenage girls who rebel against any kind of role models or imposed rules in the 1950s. Legs, Maddy, Lana, Rita and Goldie live in a violent male-dominated postwar culture and have grown tired of being humiliated just because they are teenage girls from the wrong side of the tracks. They form a secret all-female gang “Foxfire” to take revenge on the men who have made them suffer. “Right at the height of the American dream, these women dream of freedom, solidarity and of taking control of their own lives. They reject established dogmas to create their own identity through experience” the French director Laurent Cantet revealed.
