Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Tonight’s opening gala for the 60th San Sebastián Film Festival will provide a review of the history of the last six decades at the Festival through audio and film clips as well as paying special attention to this year’s films and sections. Manual Palacios, the co-director of the gala, said that he wanted to take advantage of this emblematic date to tell the story of the Festival for the first time, but he aimed to do so with the general public in mind.
As in previous years the International Film Press Federation (Fipresci) will be presenting their Grand Prix during the gala, and on this occasion the award will go to Michael Haneke’s Amour, the film that won the Golden Palm this year at Cannes. The ceremony will be followed by the screening of the film Arbitrage starring Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon, both of whom will be attending the Festival this year. The gala will also be broadcast live on Spanish and Basque public television as well as over the Festival web pages.
