Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Born in 1971 in Bucharest and graduated in Film Directing at the Theatre and Film Academy in 1994. He has directed four feature films, several documentaries and over 600 commercials.
His feature directorial debut was Rage, in 2002. His second film, Hârtia va fi albastra / The Paper Will Be Blue (2006) participated in the official competition at the Locarno Festival and received various awards at other events, including Sarajevo, Namur, Cottbus, Marrakesh and Las Palmas. His next film, Boogie-Boogie (2008), was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and for the Karlovy Vary Festival. Lastly, with Marti, dupa Craciun (Tuesday, After Christmas, 2010), he competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the Festival de Cannes, and went on to win awards at other international festivals like Gijón, Sarajevo, Namur, Mar del Plata, Bastia, Cyprus and Sarasota.
His latest work is the documentary Vorbitor / Visiting Room (2011).
