Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The British actress Sophie Okonedo says she felt a bit overwhelmed when she received her invitation to be a member of the Official Section Jury but that it was turning out to be much more thrilling than she had imagined: “it’s a real privilege to be able to see films from all over the world.”
When asked about what criteria she follows when judging a film she says that she is open to all kinds of stories but what she is really interested in is finding some resonance about the human condition.
She herself has worked in film, theatre and TV and enjoys all three media equally,“they are different arms of the same body,” but admits that perhaps working on stage brings a different energy as you have to perform night after night.
She confesses that it was a real honour to play Winnie Mandela in a recent TV film, although
she thinks her really great character is still to come, “I’m waiting for the scriptwriters to write it for me.” As for what future roles she’s like to do, she says that she’d really like to do more classical roles in the theatre.
