Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The first film Álex de la Iglesia ever saw on television was King Kong, and the first one he saw at the cinema was Godzilla. The director of El día de la Bestia and 800 balas, among others, acknowledges that as a director he loves fantasy films, but surprisingly he claims that the kind of films that he prefers to watch are, “romantic comedies, especially if Julia Roberts is in them.” He confesses that he has an extreme passion for watching films and enjoying them. Maybe that’s why he has accepted the invitation to come to the San Sebastián Film Festival as a member of the Official Jury. He explains that he thinks the section is really varied, with “some fantastic things, some that are terrible, films that don’t fit in at all with my way of looking at cinema, and others that surprisingly I think are great.”
He has taken part as a jury member at other festivals, such as the ones in Sitges and Malaga, although he is more used to competing with his films.
