Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Director Isaki Lacuesta is here in San Sebastián to present both Los pasos dobles in the Official Section and El cuaderno de barro in Zabaltegi. The painter Miquel Barceló is the link between them as the latter features a performance he stages in the village in Mali where he spends long periods, whereas the former is about the almost-unknown French painter, François Augiéras, who Lacuesta became interested in after Barceló had shown him part of the Frenchman’s work.
Barceló himself appears in both films, although he stresses that he doesn’t feel he’s an actor
at all and behaves as if he wasn’t being filmed. “Right from the first day it was quite clear that I
wasn’t going to be an actor; I think that is obvious. However,as Isaki says: everything is acting, just like for me everything is painting.”
Both films will be screened next year in Bamako and Sangha in Mali where they were shot.
