Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Director, scriptwriter, producer and owner of the production company BulBul Film, Bent Hamer was born in Sandefjord, Norway. After a couple of years at the University of Oslo studying Law, he worked for some years as a sailboat skipper. In 1986 he moved to Stockholm where he completed his education in Film Theory and Literature at the University of Stockholm and in Filmmaking at the Filmskola in the same city.
His latest feature film Home for Christmas was released in Norway in November 2010. It was included in the Official Selection at San Sebastian IFF where it won the Best Screenplay Award.
O’Horten (2007) had its international premiere in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2008. Hamer’s feature films also include Factotum (2005), Kitchen Stories (2003) and Eggs (1995) which all enjoyed their international premieres at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. Kitchen Stories received the Europa Cinemas Prize at Cannes. Both Eggs and Kitchen Stories were awarded the International Film Critics Prize (FIPRESCI).
O’Horten and Kitchen Stories were Norway’s Academy Award entries.
Bent Hamer’s films have been distributed in more than 40 countries; they have participated in numerous film festivals around the world and have won some 40 awards.
