Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
La noche que no acaba, inspired by a book by Marcos Ordoñez, is a tribute to Ava Gardner. Presented yesterday in the Zabaltegi Specials section and directed by Isaki Lacuesta, it makes use of archive material to build up a dialogue between Ava at the start of her career and the actress as an old woman. Lacuesta said that it was a film about a woman who ages and who has all sorts of things happen to her in the meantime. He explained that what he would like is for the audience to manage to see the actress and the person at the same time.
The intensive research process in film libraries to find archive material was a basic part of the film which al-so includes interviews with people like Lucía Bosé,Jaime Chávarri and Manel Fábregas, among others, who knew the star during the periods she spent in Spain.
They reveal that she was rather naïve when she first came to Spain as she had never been outside the United States and hid all her insecurities behind her beauty.
