Makeup designer, renowned for her work in prosthetics and special effects. Nominated for an Academy Award for Mar adentro (The Sea Inside, Alejandro Amenábar, 2004), the film for which she landed a Goya (Spain). Her work on The Hours (Stephen Daldry, 2002) earned her a BAFTA (UK) nomination. Her other credits include The Four Feathers (Shekhar Kapur, 2002); Captain Corelli’s Mandolin (John Madden, 2001); Quills (Philip Kaufman, 2000); Gladiator (Ridley Scott, 2000) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Michael Hoffman, 1999).
Her hands have designed the makeup for actors like Javier Bardem, Nicole Kidman, Diego Luna, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julianne Moore, Christian Slater, Samantha Morton and Jeremy Irons. Jo's upcoming projects are Egyptian director Amr Salama's Asmaa and Simon West's Dali to star Antonio Banderas.
