Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Born in 1957 in Madrid. Started his acting career at the age of 29, playing his first theatre part under Lluís Pasqual in Federico García Lorca’s El público. His professional career has always been closely linked to the theatre: Hécuba (Emilio Hernández), El gran mercado del mundo (Miguel Narros), La señorita Julia (Emilio Hernández), Algo en común (Paco Pino), La habitación azul (Mario Gas), Hamlet (Juan Diego Botto), Sombra de perro (Nancho Novo) and Paseo romántico por la poesía española del s. XIX (Laia Ripoll), among others.
In addition to this long theatre career, he has participated in over thirty films with prestigious directors including Ricardo Franco, Antonio Mercero, Vicente Aranda, Mario Camus, Manuél Gómez-Pereira, Imanol Uribe, Gerardo Herrero, Ventura Pons, Carlos Saura – Goya en Burdeos, 1998; Chus Gutiérrez – Poniente, 2002; Manuel Iborra – La dama boba, 2005; Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón – Todos estamos invitados, 2007; Enrique Urbizu…. It is with the latter of these that he has played his best known parts among the public and critics, such as La caja 507 (2001), La vida mancha (2002) and the recently completed No habrá paz para los malvados (2010).
He has also worked with new directors like Eduard Cortés – La vida de nadie, 2001; Miguel Courtois – Lobo, 2003; Vicente Peñarrocha – Fuera del cuerpo, 2003; Iñaki Dorronsoro – La distancia, 2005; and Salvador García Calvo – Masala, 2006.
Jose Coronado has similarly worked in television for 20 years, making for even more fame and popularity. Although he has starred in several of the most successful Spanish TV series in recent years, including Brigada Central and Hermanos de leche, it was his part in Periodistas which consolidated his career as a television actor (Silver Fotogramas). His latest work for TV was Acusados, in 2009.
He has received two Goya Award nominations, one for his part in Carlos Saura’s Goya en Burdeos, and another for Enrique Urbizu’s La caja 507, a film for which he also notched up a Silver Fotogramas nomination.
