Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Antonio Elorza Velodrome will once again be astounding the very young with some innovative screenings of children’s films in three dimensions. A programme entitled Velodrome-3D Movies has been created with four screenings for an audience of about 3,000 people on a giant 400 sqm screen.
Tomorrow at 17:00 they will be able to see the famous film Toy Story de John Lasseter followed by the Spanish premiere of Battle For Terra by Aristomenis Tsirbas at 20.30 that tells the story of the adventures of Mala, a girl who is forced to leave her planet to search for a new home.
The audience will have the chance to plunge into Halloweentown in 3D in Henry Selick’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, at 19:30 on Sunday, and the last of the four 3D films will be Oceanworld by Jean Jacques & François Mantello, which tells the story of a sea turtle that goes on a thrilling journey around the kelp forests of California, the Great Barrier Reef of Australia and the Roca Partida of Mexico. It will be shown at 19:30 next Friday.
The Velodrome will also be the venue for the Big films for the kids section that this year features Gake no ue no Ponyo by Hayao Miyazaki, which will be shown dubbed into Basque.
Finally the closing session will also be held in the Velodrome where the filmgoers will follow the broadcasting of the Closing Gala and watch Mother and Child from the Official Section and Vengeance from Zabaltegi-Pearls.
