Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The Portuguese actress Leonor Silveira was introduced to the film world in 1989 by Manoel de Oliveira, who offered her the leading part in Les cannibales and proceeded to make her his muse. Since then, she has participated in over 17 movies by Oliveira, constructing her career around the strong and emblematic characters offered to her by the director. In 1993, she headed the bill of Val Abraham, in which Manoel de Oliveira pays tribute to Flaubert and reinvents Madame Bovary. Silveira has shared screens with Catherine Deneuve and John Malkovich (Le couvent – The Convent in 1995, Je rentre à la maison in 2000, Un film parlé in 2002); Marcello Mastroianni (Voyage au début du monde in 1996), Michel Piccoli (Party in 1996, Je rentre à la maison, Miroir magique in 2005), Irene Papas (Party, Inquiétude in 1997, Un film parlé), Marisa Paredes (Miroir magique), and Chiara Mastroianni (La lettre – The Letter in 1998), most of which have been presented at the Cannes Festival.
She has also worked with other Portuguese filmmakers, as is the case of João Botelho, Joaquim Pinto, Luís Galvão Telles or Vicente Jorge Silva.
Apart from her movie career, Leonor Silveira joined the Cabinet of the Portuguese Minister of Culture in 1998, a position from which she participated in the national launch of cultural projects. In 2000, she joined the Institute of Film, Audiovisuals and Multimedia with the mission of coordinating and promoting national cinematography. She has been Vice-President of the Institute of Film and Audiovisuals since 2005.
As a jury member, she has participated in the Cannes (2009, Short Films and Cinéfondation section), Deauville (2008), Luanda (2008), Marrakesh (2005) and São Paulo (2000) international festivals.
In 1997, Leonor Silveira was named Commander of the Order of Merit, presented to her by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Jorge Sampaio.
