Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Jorge Goldenberg, the Argentine playwright, director and scriptwriter is here in San Sebastián this year to judge the films in the Latin Horizons section, alongside the actress, Mirtha Ibarra, and the producer, Luis Miñarro.
Goldenberg thinks that the best thing about the Festival is that it has managed to reach so many people, and not just a coupel of film buffs: “at any screening you go to, the cinema is always full and there are lot of films that are not exactly commercial, but they are interesting.” This is what the aim of a festival should be: “The function of a festival like this one is to stimulate and educate the audience’s retina; of course all festivals also have their frivolous side, but their most important purpose is to help to create an audience that is intelligent and demanding in the best sense of the word. And you can achieve this by offering the audience alternatives and showing them what they can’t usually get to see, like Terence Davies or Japanese film noir”
