The Turkish director Yesim Ustaoglu is in San Sebastián to compete in the Official section with her film Pandora’s Box, which reflects the insuperable generation gap between an old woman and her three children who are forced together to go and look for her when she unexpectedly disappears from her home on the Black Sea coast. At the press conference she gave yesterday after the screening of her film, she wanted to stress that the old lady, played by Tsilla Chelton, who has accompanied the director to San Sebastián, loses her memory but still has enough mental strength to know where she wants to die: in her village by the Black Sea.
