“My character is pathetic; he’s a man who has abandoned all his dreams and isn’t what he claims to be. He pretends to be something that he isn’t, and we gradually discover that he’s a nobody. In actual fact he has nothing, yet in his very lack of awareness he’s happy.” This is how Antonio Banderas describes Ralph Cortés, his character in The Other man, which is one of the reasons why he has come to San Sebastián this year, although it is not the only one – he is also going to be presented with the Donostia Award tonight by Pedro Almodóvar.
