Manuel, El Perra and El Cherif, three fishermen from Barbate, get by as they can despite the fishing crisis assailing the coast of Cadiz. The next thing one of their sons, Manolín, comes home with yet another problem: he wants to take his first communion. Given that his parents, Manuel and María, aren?t married, and that the boy has never been christened, they have to seriously think about ?organizing their lives? and getting hitched. Infected by her son?s excitement, María arranges everything, although there is obviously no wedding without guests. And that costs money. What to do? But Manuel?s going to handle that side of things: he?ll ?wangle? a tuna intended for the Japanese (the kilo of tuna is so expensive that not even the fishermen can afford it), aided in his almost impossible mission by El Perra. Their local friends all chip in to help the couple in their act of love.
