Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).

At the present time he is preparing a book of memoirs about his experience during this period entitled "An American in Paris is Not Singin' in the Rain". Before that he was Artistic Director of the San Francisco International Film Festival from 1983 to 2001. During this period, the oldest film festival in America acquired extraordinary international prestige and tripled the number of people attending the festival. Thanks to his work while he was in charge of the festival directors as important as Mike Leigh, Spike Lee, Jane Campion, Léos Carax, Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Alan Clarke and Guy Maddin established their reputations in the United States.
