Synopsis
In 1933, in a small town at the foot of the Bavarian Alps, Jewish Professor Roth and his family are preparing the celebrations for his birthday party. The overall commotion is interrupted with an announcement from maid that Hitler has been named chancellor. While the three men of the house, Otto, Erich and Rudi are enchanted with the news, their sister Freya and parents show signs of concern. Freya's two suitors, Martin and Fritz, also adopt oppoosing attitudes. Although Freya is engaged to Fritz, she ends their relationship on discovering his unconditional support of the Nazi cause.
