Synopsis
The director of The Smell of green Papaya (El olor de la papaya verde) and Cyclo, has filmed a hot, summery, sensuous and peaceful Hanoi, that is the real protagonist of this family story full of secrets whispered among three sisters and a brother who get together to celebrate the anniversary of their mother's death. Among smells, flavours, laughter and complicity, the director shows us a city that has learnt how to re-emerge from the ashes.
