Ángela Molina was born in Madrid in 1955 into a family entirely dedicated to the world of showbusiness, headed by her father, Antonio Molina, one of the great figures of song. The eldest daughter of a group of brothers and sisters likewise dedicated to song - Micki, Paula and Mónica - Angela is in turn mother of one of the young promises of new Spanish cinema, Olivia. The legend, confirmed by Angela herself on several occasions, started with an illustrated report in the Fotogramas review when she had not yet turned 18. But Angela was soon to prove that she was far more than just a pretty face, particularly when Luis Buñuel chose her to play the sensual and whimsical Conchita in Cet obscur objet du désir (That Obscure Object of Desire), set off against the icy and repressive Conchita of Carole Bouquet. Passionate and instinctive, she adapts to the characters, effortlessly making them her own. Chávarri has directed her on five occasions, she was Gutiérrez Aragón's actress fetiche in three, Borau made her wise in Sabina, while Bigas converted her into an ardent Lola. She has worked in Italy and France, but it's in Spain that she's had her greatest hits. An actress of impressive beauty, completely unafraid of unveiling the marks of time, she demonstrated in Almodóvar's Carne trémula, that she was still capable of rousing stormy passion. Her latest works are Agustí Villaronga's El Mar (The Sea) and Karl Francis' One of the Hollywood Ten, in which she plays the part of Mexican actress Rosaura Revueltas. Angela Molina has participated several times in the San Sebastián Festival. In 1986 she won the award for the Best Actress with La mitad del cielo and a couple of years ago was one of the stars of the Golden Shell recipient, El viento se llevó lo qué (Wind with the Gone), in addition to lending her beautiful velvet eye for Paco Rabal to slit on the poster for the 1997 Festival.
