Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Zina is the story of a young woman torn apart because she is forced to live onthe edge of events which shook the world. Escaping from Stalin's Russia, Zina seeks out a father whom she hardly knows. Their reunion is a disaster. While she craves his love and attention, he is engaged in a desperate fight against the rising tide of fascism. Feeling bitter and rejected she goes to Berlin just as Hitler is making his most serious bid for power. There she becomes the patient of a brilliant psycho-analyst, Professor Kronfeld. His attempt to cure this fascinating and complicated "victim of history" is set against the growing collapse of Europe itself.
Zina takes you deep into the tragic life of Zina Bronstein, daugther of Leon Trotsky. The film Zina is being produced and directed by Ken McMullen, hailed at the London Film Festival as an emerging British talent for his award winning films Ghost Dance and Resistance.
