The director of the judicial police Lohmann is a capable official. Shortly before leaving with his wife on vacation, he must clarify a case that is not particularly interesting for him. A young mother has killed her son. But when he goes to entrust his assistant to solve the case, his gaze falls on the young mother and her interest arouses. A woman with a calm, balanced face, without reflecting any feeling of guilt. Interrogations are difficult. The woman after her murder remains mute.
The police reconstruct the facts. No social or psychological circumstance explains the act. Annette lived in favorable conditions, she loved her son to the point of idolizing him. Her husband adores her. her neighbors only have words of admiration for her.
Lohmann is tired. When he is going to leave with her wife for Torremolinos, when she wakes up she realizes that her husband has disappeared. Walter Lohmann seeks to understand crime. He stays alone in the small town. He is a famous policeman and he is unable to understand and solve this case. But he finds a photo of Annette in the company of a stranger. Lohmann launches on this track.
