Andrés returns to his hometown after a long absence. The son of a high-society military man who abandoned his wife to join the protagonist's mother, a second-rate cuppletista. He returns to take charge of an inheritance that his father left him, a dilapidated mansion that is going to be declared an artistic monument. The meddling of his stepbrother prevents the prompt settlement of the issue. Andrés's relations with his family, with the old lawyer Dimas and with his daughter Blanquita are complicated.
