François and Anne love each other but can never see each other because he works at night and she works during the day. One morning, he sees her leaving her house accompanied by an aviator who has been her lover, and François makes a jealous scene. In the afternoon, instead of sleeping, he wanders the streets and sees the aviator with an unknown woman. He follows them and they head to the Butter Chaumont gardens, where he meets Lucie, a schoolgirl, while trying to see Anne again.
