Aga, a landowner, and Cheik, a religious chief, are dominating a small village in the eastern part of Anatolia. Hazal, the daughter of one of the poorest families, is engaged to the rich Besir. The latter leaves to serve as a soldier and doesn't come back. Tradition and the promise she made compel Hazal to marry Omer, Besir's young brother. Their married life becomes unbearable.
