Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Today the Argentine Academy of Cinematography Arts and Sciences designated as honorary member of the institution José Luis Rebordinos, Director of the San Sebastian Festival. The Festival Director is honoured by this acknowledgement, received the previous day by the Director of the Cannes Festival, Thierry Frémaux. Both join a short list alongside the Argentine actresses Mirtha Legrand and Amelia Bence, the former Director of TVE and of the San Sebastian Film Festival, Manuel Pérez Estremera, and the North American filmmaker Oliver Stone.
The Argentine Film Academy pays him this tribute, in the words of its President, Bernardo Zupnik, “for having privileged the films of our region from his position as Director of the San Sebastian International Film Festival and for his constant work to find new projects and talents which reaffirm the presence of our cinema abroad”.
“For me and for the San Sebastian Festival it is a great honour to receive this distinction. Argentina is a country we feel close to, with which we have many ties: cultural, emotional, economic... And its film industry, which has important presence every year at the Festival, is a film industry of enormous wealth and plurality which we follow with great interest. Thank you to the Academy and to the INCAA, which always accompany us with generosity in this adventure that is the Festival”, said Rebordinos.
The Argentine Film Academy is made up of more than 300 artists, technicians and professionals from the world of film. This award confirms the solid ties of the Festival with Latin American films in general and with those from Argentina in particular.
