Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Today the San Sebastian Festival signed the Charter for Parity and Inclusion of Women in Cinema. By signing this document, the Festival pledges to meet its commitments, on which work is already underway: working to compile statistics broken down by gender, both those referring to the number of films submitted for selection, and those chosen and programmed, in order to obtain real and reliable figures on the presence of projects participated by women: publishing the list of members on the selection and programming committees, which is available for consultation on the Festival website; and establishing a calendar of changes in the Festival’s executive bodies in order to achieve parity during their current term of office.
In this sense, the Festival already had a management committee made up of four women and three men. In the case of the selection committee, its members are currently five men and four women. However, today the Festival wishes to announce, on this day packed with meaning, that next year the film selection committee will have a fifth female member, the Festival Head of Communications, Ruth Pérez de Anucita.
Furthermore, in 2019 the Festival will publish a yearly report on the progress made.
