Mariana doesn’t like her name and starts calling herself Gloria. Her parents separated before she was a year old and today, like many estranged couples, they are brought back together under the same roof by the inability to find a decent job. Cristina, her mother, rents part of the house to her ex-husband for a bit of extra money. Francia tells the tale of those people who never travel far from home, where they take refuge, good or bad, from the big ugly outside world. Meanwhile, Mariana puts on her headphones when she hears her parents fighting. Those fights she didn’t hear because she was just a baby and which now serve as an outlet for the destitute.
