Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Last night, the Feroz Awards, promoted by the Asociación de Informadores Cinematográficos de España (Spanish Cinematographic Informers Association, AICE) presented four awards to four films screened at the 64th edition of the San Sebastian Festival, including Best Leading Actress and Actor.
Roberto Álamo collected the Best Leading Actor award for his part in Que Dios nos perdone (May God Save Us), directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, which had its world premiere in the Official Selection at San Sebastian. Bárbara Lennie was acknowledged with the Best Actress Award for her work in Nely Reguera’s debut, María y los demás (Maria, and the Others), selected for the New Directors section.
A Monster Calls, which had its European premiere in San Sebastian, screened as part of the Official Selection out of competition, landed the award for Best Original Score. In his acceptance speech, its composer, Fernando Velázquez recalled his travelling companions on this soundtrack, the Basque National Orchestra and the Orfeón Donostiarra choir.
The film by Alberto Rodríguez El hombre de las mil caras (The Man of a Thousand Faces), a competitor in the Official Selection, bagged the award for Best Poster, designed by Gabriel Moreno.
The big winner of the night was Tarde para la ira (The Fury of a Patient Man), which landed recognitions in the Best Picture (Drama), Best Director (Raúl Arévalo), Best Screenplay (Raúl Arévalo and David Pulido), Best Supporting Actress (Ruth Díaz) and Best Supporting Actor (Manolo Solo) categories.
