Orona Fundazioa and the San Sebastian Festival (Donostia Zinemaldia) have renewed their collaboration agreement to continue with the Zinetek project, which celebrates its fourth edition this year.
Under the agreement, both organisations will promote the Zinetek film season. The initiative seeks, in film club format, to improve young people’s connections with companies and innovation, two areas encompassed in the singular space of Orona Ideo – a combination of university, research and business – of which the Orona Fundazioa is a part.
For this edition, the 6 films to be screened between the months of October and April will be presented by Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and University students who will also moderate the talk following each screening. This action enables a space for debate thanks to which students will develop capacities they will come across in the future, above all in the working world, such as group work, project management and communication skills.
The idea is to extend this activity in the future to all education centres in Gipuzkoa given that, until now, only schools in the area of San Sebastian had been called to participate (in the Bidasoa, Oarso and San Sebastian regions).
The Zinetek project began four years ago and has until now seen the screening of more than 17 films on subjects related to the world of business, human resources and technology. The films have been watched by more than 2,500 young people in an environment of discussion, participation, the coming together between generations, since adults too attend the screenings, and intellectual enrichment.
EIECINE
Like in previous editions, Orona Fundazioa presented a prize of 5,000 euros to the Most Innovative Short Film at the International Film Students Meeting. This year the chosen work was Zeit Der Unruhe / News 23/06/2016, by Elsa Rosengren.
The award was given by a jury of students from the Mondragon University Humanities Faculty (HUHEZI). The jury members participated in all activities related to the event: masterclasses, presentations, discussions and viewings; workshops; opening event and closing party of the 16th Meeting. The award-winning short films at the 16th Meeting will be presented in Tabakalera in spring 2018.
Renewal of the collaboration corresponds to the Foundation’s desire to back cultural initiatives which are strategic for cultural, social and economic development of the environment, such as the San Sebastian Festival. For Orona Fundazioa participation of the educational community in these activities is essential.
This project permits Orona Fundazioa to consolidate some of the essential pillars of its activity, such as the promotion of activities enabling young people to expand and complement their education and the creation of spaces where students can improve their abilities.
With this agreement, the San Sebastian strengthens its commitment to foster the critical spirit and love of cinema in young people.
