The jury for the Lurra Award (Earth in Basque language) has been finalized. The San Sebastián Film Festival motion picture to best symbolize environmental protection and peace will be presented the award. Actress Bárbara Goenaga, producer and director Álvaro Longoria, writer and journalist Carlos del Amor, along with reporter and Greenpeace Communication Director Laura Pérez will select the winning film.
The Award will be presented on a ceremony on the evening of September 25th. The ceremony will be full of surprises and will merge the movie world and the activism world; an event where actors, actresses, and movie business people will become environmental activists for one night.
Along the Award ceremony we will carry out several activities during the week of the film festival to highlight the role films play in promoting environmental protection and peace, and to illustrate their capacity to mobilize people. On September 21st we will announce “Greenpeace style” the motion pictures nominated. On Wednesday 23rd Greenpeace will invite the public to become “activists for one day” by recreating an action scenario for people to take pictures as activists.
